william grant logoSmithfield is delighted to add William Grant & Sons Ltd to its growing client list.

Smithfield Performance was contracted by William Grants & Sons, the prestigious drinks and whisky company, to help roll out a performance management programme to all leaders within their UK operation.

The client has an ambitious strategy to significantly increase its revenue over the next five years and to realise its vision of being the most coveted branded spirits business in the world.  An essential part of this strategy relates to the performance culture that exists within the business.

A high performance culture relies heavily on many performance management principles.  Grants is building on its success over the last decade to reinforce and continue to evolve these principles.

  • the attitude and leadership behaviour of the management population
  • setting high performance personal and team objectives
  • managing performance progress
  • undertaking regular reviews
  • dealing with under performance
  • managing flexibility of objectives within the business cycle
  • role modelling and rewarding value-based and leadership work behaviour
  • professional appraisal meetings
  • sensible personal development planning

Smithfield has been involved in the design and delivery of the performance management workshops and has seen over 120 business leaders come through the programme at various locations throughout the UK, from its sales and marketing base in Richmond in London, to the Glasgow head office, the Glenfiddich distillery in Dufftown and the Grants Whisky distillery and the Hendrick Gin Palace in Girvan.

William Grant & Sons Ltd is an award winning independent family-owned distiller founded by William Grant in 1886.  It distills some of the world leading brands of Scotch whisky, including Glenfiddich, The Balvenie range of single malts and Grants the world fourth largest blended Scotch as well as selected other spirits.
