Smithfield Performance delivers Talent Management project for Manchester University
Smithfield Performance, working with Anne Shaw Consultants, has successfully delivered a significant Talent Management project for Manchester University.
One of the most senior positions at the University of Manchester, the STARS Director, was successfully appointed with the aid of a selection assessment from Smithfield and Anne Shaw. Using a combination of a tailoured Strategic Thinking Capability assessment and a NEO personality inventory, the four candidates for the job were assessed for their strategic thinking potential.
Based on the Time Span of Discretion Model Smithfield designed a case study that highlighted the candidates ability to deal with increasing job related strategic complexity in order to identify the best person for the job. The STARS director is responsible for Sport, Trading, Accommodation and Services. The position requires a high level of commercial understanding combined with a strategic visioning capability that will enable the university to capitalise on its commercial assets well into the next decade. As part of the University of Manchester vision to achieve world class status by 2015, the person in this position will play a key role in helping to set out the long term goals of the organisation.
